Course description

The SASS Academy Level 1 Certificate hair course is industry recognised as a provider of thoroughly trained Artists that enjoy greater employability in the Beauty, Fashion and Theatre industry.

• Salon time and experience will be concluded in classrooms only

 

What You Will Learn

• Shampooing, Conditioning and Blow-drying
• Brading Natural Hair: – Cornrow, French Braid (Maap), Single Plaits (Life), Twist Plaits, & Torsaat
• Brading With Extension: – Single Plaits, Twist Plaits, Tresse, & Torsaat
• Hair Styling: Pony Tails, Banana Wrap, Chignon, Brochin and Curling Techniques

• Hair & Scalp Treatments: Diagnosis, product selection, and performing treatments like hair spas.

 

Client & Salon Skills

• Consultation: Advising clients on styles based on hair/face shape.
• Customer Service: Communication, teamwork, and creating a positive client experience.
• Health & Safety: Maintaining hygiene, understanding salon safety, and product safety.
• Salon Management: Inventory, scheduling, promoting services/products, and professional presentation.

 

Learning Approach

• Practical Training: Hands-on practice in realistic salon environments with real clients.
• Theory: Understanding hair science and product knowledge.
• Portfolio Building: Creating a collection of your work for future job prospects.

• The course will assess students through tutor observations and practical and theoretical exams. They will also need to hand in a portfolio of treatments within 12 weeks of completing the course.

Entry Requirements

• Students must be at least 18 years old to enrol in the course – there are no exceptions.

• No previous experience is required, although students are expected to have a strong interest.
• An informal interview is required for this course, either by phone or in person.

D20,575.00 to be paid 10 days prior to the course start date and the remainder balance of D16,000.00 to be paid after completion of the first term.
